We will have 4 workshops over the course of the year. These will take place once each quarter. Make sure you attend these meeting as we go over important things and they are just plain fun! Here are the dates. (8th & 9th grade will be announced) NOTE: you need to attend the workshop to go on the tours.
Please feel free to discuss your interests with me - I like to hear what you are doing.

10th GRADE WORKSHOPS
August 29, 3rd Period - "Hiking Gear" What do you put in your backpack when you camp? How do you determine the priorities? How does this relate to sucessful plans for education and career after graduation? We also will give you a cool planner, so be there!
October 29, 2nd Period - "Don't Step on a Cactus: Avoid Sunburn" We will talk about Sucessful Attitudes and Habits in School and Work.

February 19th, 3rd Period - "Landmarks, Compasses and Map Reading." We are going to talk about the ACT test. We will help you get registered and we even have a cool slide show that might help you out!

April 2nd, ALL DAY - "Picking a Campsite" We are heading out to Vegas! We will check out the campus of UNLV and take a tour. We will also eat at this amazing buffet until we explode. It is sure yummy!
May 7th, 4th Period - "Slimy....yet Satisfying" No, we are not eating bugs, but we might have some to show. How to start looking for the juicy morsels to fund college. What juniors need to do ASAP, and service and learning. It will be good!

September 4th, 5th & 6th , TOUR - "College Safari #1" we visit: Weber State University, Utah State University, Utah Valley State College, Brigham Young University. Meet at the Dixie State College Old Gym at 4:00 p.m. on the 4th of September. Look at Scholarship Outlines.

Prepare a little more with this.
November 19th, 1st or 2nd Period- How to Swing It - How to write a college essay.
January 16th, 1st or 2nd Period - "Get to the Point" Discover the 'hub-bub' of college links. Look at a scholarship essay.
March 5th, 3rd or 4th Period - "Beware of the Boa: Don't Get Squished" AKA How to not get ahead of the college application squeeze; early Scholarship searches, Pre-Portfolio.

April 27th, 3rd or 4th Period - "Plan Your Cool Freshman Year" Cool off with some HELP at a Lunch Meeting with Advisors and Register for Dixie State College.
May..... - RELAX! You got it done! First to Finish gets Lunch and a Movie on me!

2) Applied for a scholarship.
3) Filled out and submitted the FAFSA
